The Message:

Dear MPP

I am deeply concerned about the increase in the number of LCBO Convenience Outlets and the growth of alcohol sales in grocery stores, as well as the Conservative government’s plan to allow thousands of corner stores to sell beer and wine.

Private alcohol sales enrich the storeowners instead of going to build better hospitals, schools and other public services. I also believe, and am supported by polling, that traditional LCBO stores are much more likely to keep our kids safe. In addition, broader and easier access to alcohol is threatening our health care system, as demonstrated by an increase of 24,000 alcohol-related ER visits in the two years after the introduction of grocery store alcohol sales.

The people of Ontario built the LCBO, paid for the LCBO and own the LCBO – keep it public!
