Repeal section 14(1) of Saskatchewan’s Human Rights Code
Send a letter to Saskatchewan’s Minister of Justice and Premier urging them to repeal section 14(1) of Saskatchewan’s Human Rights Code, which grants broad powers to regulate lawful speech and political expression. While Saskatchewan’s Human Rights Code already prohibits genuine discrimination in employment, housing, and public services, section 14(1) goes further by targeting speech itself. Increasingly across Canada, similar provisions have been used to investigate and punish citizens for expressing lawful opinions on controversial social and political issues. Saskatchewan should protect both genuine human rights and freedom of expression by repealing laws that enable censorship through human rights tribunals.
