KEEP THE HALIFAX-CLASS WORK IN HALIFAX
Representatives from the federal government have recently made comments suggesting they plan to move some of the Halifax-class navy ship repair work from the Irving Shipyard to Davie Shipyard in Quebec.
The loss of this work would be a loss for the Nova Scotian economy and for families across the province.
Unifor members at Marine Workers Federation Local 1 are proud shipbuilders and need our support. Unifor has worked with Irving Shipbuilding to diversify this workplace, training women, African Nova Scotians and Indigenous men and women to become expert shipbuilders. We’ve built and are continuing to support a vibrant workplace where more than 900 Unifor members are building their futures alongside the future of the Royal Canadian Navy.
