To protect the guided tours at the National Gallery of Canada
All professional guides employed by the National Gallery of Canada received lay-off notices. The tours are the most important factor in visitors' decision to keep coming back to the gallery. Write to James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, asking him to use his influence to convince the gallery's management to reverse its decision to lay off those employees. The reputation and the financial stability of the gallery depend on it.
Call to stop the Canada-Colombia trade deal
On November 21, 2008, Prime Minister Stephen Harper signed a controversial new free trade deal with Colombia, the country with the worst human rights record in the western hemisphere. Colombia is the most dangerous country in the world in which to be a trade unionist, journalist or educator. Over the past 25 years, more than 2,685 trade unionists have been killed in their efforts to expose corruption and oppose privatization.

Stand up for LGBT rights today
The recent discovery that Immigration Minister Jason Kenney’s office removed reference to same sex marriage from the guide for new citizens is only the tip of the iceberg. Indeed, equality rights in general were edited out of the list of important Charter rights in the guide, resulting in the impression that your government does not prioritize equality on all grounds.
Since taking power in 2006, the Harper government has attempted to undermine the LGBT community’s hard-fought struggle for equality and human rights. This includes abolishing the Court Challenges Program, appointing people with anti-gay track records to key government positions and refusing to add gender identity and gender expression as a protected ground under the Canadian Human Rights Act.
Take action now. Send a letter to Prime Minister Harper.
