Community Social Service Workers Appreciation Day | National Union of Public and General Employees

Dear Prime Minister:

For the past decade community social services have been starved of billions of dollars while demand for services keeps rising.

It’s time for your government to remedy this grave situation that impacts
workers and their clients daily.

I ask you to build a national framework for funding social services that will strengthen our social safety net.

RESTORE federal funding to the 1995-96 levels of the CAP (Canada Assistance Program) funding.
ENSURE accountability for how the funds are spent.
WORK WITH the provinces to develop a national human resources strategy for community social services.
