Ne touchez pas à la SV!
L’annonce de Stephen Harper de repousser l’âge d’admissibilité de 65 à 67 ans au programme de la Sécurité de la vieillesse (SV) est un énorme pas en arrière.
Hands off the OAS!
Stephen Harper's announcement to raise the age for Old Age Security (OAS) from age 65 to 67 is a giant step backwards. The Conservative government never announced such a proposal during the May election. It is revealing that Harper goes to Davos, Switzerland to tell Canadians about his plans to change the eligibility age for the OAS. Take action now.
Tell Caterpillar to get back to the bargaining table!
On January 1, Caterpillar locked out nearly 500 Electro-Motive Diesel workers in London, Ontario Canada. Days earlier, the company walked away from the bargaining table after demanding that workers accept a 50 per cent cut to wages and benefits.
Canada needs a National Public Transit Strategy!
Affordable, quality public transit is an issue that concerns all Canadians. We need a Made-in-Canada transit strategy that makes our cities greener, more livable and more accessible for all.
NO to Air Canada’s demand for cuts to workers' pensions
The CAW is in negotiations with Air Canada on behalf of the 3,800 members who work in customer service in major airport terminals and call centres. Air Canada is demanding permanent pension benefit cuts amounting to a 40% reduction. On top of that, Air Canada wants a two-tier pension plan for new hires.
Stand with CAW members at Air Canada to say NO to cuts to pensions, NO to a two-tier pension plan for new hires and YES to a fair deal.
Help Strengthen the Canadian Human Rights Act!
Private Members’ Bill-C-389, An Act to Amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and Criminal Code (gender identity and gender expression), is now up for third and final reading –ask your MP to vote in favour of the Bill to protect the rights of transgender Canadians.
Defeat Bill C-49
On October 21, 2010, the Conservative Government introduced a bill that would radically alter our immigration system for refugees -creating two tiers of refugees, solely dependant on how they enter the country.
Double the CPP! (Federal)
With less than a month to go before Canada's Finance Ministers meet in Alberta, the issue of pension reform is heating up again.
Please take a moment to send a message to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty asking for their support to double Canada Pension Plan benefits.
Double the CPP! (Ontario)
With less than a month to go before Canada's Finance Ministers meet in Alberta, the issue of pension reform is heating up again.
Ontario residents - please take a moment to send a message to Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan asking for support to double Canada Pension Plan benefits.
For all they've done for us... Demand care standards for them
Every person living in an Ontario long-term care facility should be entitled to quality care delivered with respect and dignity. Yet thousands of Ontarians know from their personal work experience or from the plight of their family member in long term care facilities that our province is not meeting this standard.
Justice for Injured Workers
The workers’ compensation system in Ontario has been deteriorating and continues to get worse. As a result many workers are suffering problems with the workers’ compensation system (WSIB); many are not reporting injuries and experience even more severe injuries as a result. Many others are claiming disability benefits rather than filing compensation claims.
Extend Special EI Measures, Support Laid-Off Workers!
The Employment Insurance (EI) program is of critical importance to working Canadians, particularly in the face of the current economic recession.
The CAW and the FFAW are current campaigning for the federal government to act immediately to extend these budget measures and EI pilot projects to ensure vital EI support for laid-off workers remains intact across the country.

20 Days/20 Ways - Day 10 (Keep the Gun Registry: Disarm Domestic Violence)
Send a postcard a day to the Prime Minister to remind him that for twenty years women have been waiting for action. Each year, women across the country commemorate the fourteen young women who were killed on December 6, 1989, at the École Polytechniques in Montreal and all other women who have died as a result of male violence.
Stop Canada-Colombia Free Trade
The movement in opposition to the Canada-Colombia FTA has been growing across Canada, Colombia and the United States.
If the Canadian government choose to ratify the proposed free trade deal with Colombia, Canada will remove any leverage or influence it might have to help improve the country's terrible human rights record.
